Expertise

Mr Elango Selvarajah is a leading Australia and New Zealand trained orthopaedic surgeon specialising in conditions of the foot and ankle, hip and trauma surgery. Mr Selvarajah is a fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic association (AOA) and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). He has extensive local and international experience in treating all conditions of the foot and ankle, hip and trauma.

He has completed an AOA accredited 1 year fellowship in foot and ankle surgery. He uses the latest and advanced techniques including arthroscopic and minimally invasive methods to treat conditions of the foot and ankle. These advanced techniques minimise complications, improve patient recovery and early mobility.

Furthermore, Mr Selvarajah has completed an AOA accredited 6 month fellowship in minimally invasive, muscle sparing anterior hip replacement surgery. The muscle sparing anterior approach for hip replacements has multiple benefits for patients. He is a high volume anterior hip surgeon and research shows fellowship trained and high volume surgeons have less complications and lower revision rates for joint replacements.

Trauma management also forms a major part of Mr Selvarajah’s practice, including upper and lower limb fractures and soft tissue injuries.

Mr Elango Selvarajah also works as a Consultant orthopaedic surgeon at St Vincent’s Public Hospital Melbourne, where he provides tertiary level care for foot and ankle conditions, hip and trauma patients. He is heavily involved in training and mentoring the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons as a training supervisor of orthopaedic training registrars and fellowship trainees.
